Wautoma Springs Claimed

A collaboration between a vineyard owner and winemaker resulted in Wautoma Springs winery. Winemaker, Jessica Munnell, and vineyard owner, Tom Merkle, partnered together to create Wautoma Wines. Our first release is our outstanding red blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon from our estate Wautoma Springs vineyard and 40% Malbec from the renowned Stone Tree vineyard on the Wahluke Slope. We began making this wine by handpicking the grapes followed by gentle destemming resulting in a whole berry fermentation. The small lot fermentation was punched down 2 to 3 times daily to gently extract the inky black color and robust structured tannins. The resulting wine is supple, round and ripe and powerful.
