Our award-winning wines are truly a reflection of the perfect location and climate in which they were grown. The Cascade Mountain Range provides a wonderful rain-shadow effect on our vineyard. We have warm sites averaging to 2980-degree days with an ideal 190-day growing season and annual precipitation between six to seven inches total.
Farming is not what we do. It is who we are. What was once Schmidt Orchards, planted by our grandfather, Phil Schmidt in 1951, became Copeland Vineyard that we planted with our uncle, Ron Schmidt, in 2000. Four generations of Yakima Valley farming later and this place becomes part of who we are.Today we operate 300 acres of vineyards and 100% of our wines come from our estate acreage.
