Pioneer winemaker and Vintner’s Hall of Fame inductee Richard Sanford, the founder of Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards, has made wine in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA for over 40 years. He and his wife, Thekla, are dedicated to producing fine wines with a focus on French Burgundian style. Their commitment to sustainability can be seen in their CCOF certified organic farming practices, as well as in other choices that they’ve made throughout their business practices. Alma Rosa’s historic tasting room is located five miles West of Buellton in the Santa Rita Hills.
