At Desert Moon, we believe that the small things in life make the best celebrations. We make simple honest wines to be enjoyed with food, family and friends.
We planted the vineyard in the summer of 2002. Given the contour of the land, we decided to plant the more tender Cabernet Sauvignon on the higher ground at the ends of the vineyard where the cold air drains away better. The lower section in the middle was planted in the more resiliant Merlot. We planted two different Merlot Clones (181 is a french clone, 3 is a california clone). A half an acre was planted in Joseph Phelps Syrah for a blending grape.
