Description

Danish Countryside Winery was unofficially started on Christmas Day 2001, when Andy Petersen gave his dad a wine making kit. Allan, being the agrarian he is, took to it immediately creating wines in his basement with some early successes. Following these events, in 2003, the first vines were planted and 3.5 acres of grapes grew in five years to fruit bearing maturity. During these events, an idea was conceived and accomplished: restoring a one hundred year old barn on the Petersen farm that had been built in 1913. Work started in 2003 and was finished in 2006. The winery became operational by Allan and wife, Carol, in May of that year.
