Our story began over three decades ago when our founder, Derek Benham, started selling wine out of the trunk of his ’67 Mustang. Out on the streets, he learned to anticipate what his customers wanted: wines that delivered beyond expectation. It is this commitment to making unforgettable drinking experiences accessible to as many people as possible that defines the essence of Purple.

Founded by Derek in 2001, the company is a brand-led business, focused on growing wine brands – Avalon, Raeburn, Four Vines, Scattered Peaks – along with its burgeoning spirits portfolio – recently launched Benham’s Gin, Redwood Empire American Whiskey. Purple also has a large footprint in custom and private label wines for major U.S. and International retailers and restaurants.
