This Austrian variety has been grown by Dale Ricci, a long time family friend and born to one of the original Carneros dairy families going back about over a hundred years. The cool San Pablo Bay slows the ripening and preserves the freshness of this variety that often behaves like a teenage Pinot Noir — lively and exuberant.
2020 was an excellent vintage for this wine. It is creamy and fruity on the nose, with more color than in previous years, that adds to the breadth and interest of the wine. There are plenty of ripe peach and banana cream tart notes on the nose with a soft mousse, and a creamy, easy drinking, very slightly off dry finish.
