Carriage House Wineworks Claimed

Carriage House Wineworks is an estate run premium boutique winery based in Waterford, VA. We plan to open up our doors in the fall of 2020. LOCATION: Our winery is located in the historic town of Waterford and is surrounded by scenic rolling hills covered in vineyards. GRAPE GROWING The owners, Mike Fritze and Bruce Beddow both recognize that the key to good wine is good grapes. They both own vineyards to provide a guaranteed source of high-quality fruit. They operate a combined Estate vineyard acreage of 17 acres between Windhorn and Quartz Creek. Our Waterford grown fruit is supplemented by some purchased grapes from local Loudoun vineyards. Our wine is 100% Loudoun County grown. Windhorn vineyard has been growing quality grapevines for over 14 years almost exclusively for Bluemont vineyard. WINEMAKING The winemaker, Michael Fritze, is also one of the owners of Carriage House Wineworks. He is a certified wine judge with the American Wine Society. A scientist by training, Mike started making wine as a hobby in 2010 and this passion soon grew out of hand. His goal is to make the best possible wine out of locally (Estate) grown Waterford fruit. Winemaking is a lifetime learning experience and he has spent the past several years learning the characteristics of our Estate fruit. He has also benefited from generous advice and sharing that other Loudoun and VA winemakers were kind enough to provide.
