The 2013 Barlow Family Selection Cabernet Sauvignon opens with generous dark cherry, juicy plum, currant and cassis, shifting to fresh blueberry with a hint of tobacco. These, in turn, are strengthened by dark chocolate, mocha, and a slight suggestion of sweet oak. The palate is bright, concentrated and dense with plenty of structured tannins strengthened by French oak. This provides wonderful texture while the bright, fresh fruit flavors balance the wine’s impressive concentration. The finish extends the density and structure as cloves and cinnamon combine with nuances of briar and flint, yielding an extraordinarily food-friendly wine.
