Description

Hold on a second, you distill spirits too? YEP! Crazy, right? Actually, Dogfish Head was one of the original craft distilleries, experimenting with off-centered spirits production on the second floor of Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth since 2002! We started at a time when there were about 30 distilleries, today there are over 3,000! As the story goes, Sam convinced a few Dogfish Head World Wide Stout fans, who were also engineers, that if they could design a pot still using a reclaimed stainless steel grain silo they would go home with a full trunk of WWS. So, in 2002 we commissioned “Frankenstill”, our first 200 gallon pot still and positioned it on the second floor of our original Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats. In 2015 we relocated spirits production to a new state-of-the-art distillery located in the heart of our Milton brewing campus, allowing us to tap into all the same awesome malt suppliers, brewing expertise, equipment and warehousing space that supports our off-centered ales. All our spirits are scratch-made by an awesome team of distillers out of the Milton Distilling Campus. In 2018 we retired Frankenstill and replaced it with a new, small-batch R&D Still (aka The Bride of Frankenstill!). In 2020 we expanded our distillery, adding a Continuous Still from Headframe Spirits, a Still manufacturer founded by a husband & wife team, John & Courtney McKee. This Headframe Continuous Still will permit us to distill a lot more spirits while maintaining our high standards of quality and consistency. Today Dogfish Head Distilling Co makes award winning Gin, Whiskey, Vodka, Brandy as well as ready-to-drink, premixed Cocktails. We are currently available in the Mid-Atlantic but are expanding rapidly! Check out the Fish Finder to see which Dogfish Head Spirits are near you!
