Inspired by the creativity and energy of the Whitechapel District of London, this versatile venue strives to redefine how art permeates our daily life– be it through food, drink, performances, events, and other forms of artistic expression.
The Whitechapel Projects was developed in a 120 year Warehouse complex through an environmentally friendly construction process called adaptive reuse. Adaptive reuse takes a structure that has outlived its usefulness, deconstructs it, and rebirths it using its original construction material.
During the deconstruction process, we harvested 72,000 bricks, over 3 tons of timbers, tin ceilings, doors, pipes and even plywood. The harvested material was used in the reconstruction process to pave the courtyard, build walls, furniture, bars, tables , tap handles, and more.
