In the late 1800’s this building was Stoughton State Bank. Locals may remember this building as the old Stationery House, which was here for 30 years. The owners, Vik and Lori, left retirement to venture into the pub business. Vik retired from the Air Force after 34 years of service flying the KC135 and holding many command positions. Lori retired as Office Manager at Home Health at Stoughton Hospital.
The idea of building Stoughton’s first Brew Pub arose from owner, Vik Malling, and his father-in-law, Duane Brickson (whom everyone referred to as “Grandpa”). They both enjoyed going on destination trips to sample craft beer in the area. One day, Grandpa said “You know that someday someone is going to open a brew pub in Stoughton and we won’t have to travel to enjoy great craft beer.” An idea was instantly born, and Grandpa put his master carpenter skills to work, drafting and designing the Viking Long Ship and Interior layout.
